Graduation Speech

"If one dream dies, dream another dream. If you get knocked down, get back up and keep on heading forward". That's what I believe the philosophy Golf middle school goes by. Everyday here I walk inside Golf Middle school waiting for the next memories that I will have or witness. You are always surrounded by loving and gracious people. If you are struggling at anything you want to be great at, you will always receive guidance and unending support from the staff and students here.
I’ve been with the a lot of people from here from preschool to 8th grade. Our friendships became stronger throughout the years. Being in a small school isn’t bad at all. You get to build strong relationships with many people. Even though no one likes homework, every assignment given here has a purpose. To make our knowledge grow bigger than ever. For us to become what we dream of being. For us to pass our knowledge to the younger ones. Everything has a purpose. It’s for us to succeed in life and go through as little problems as possible.
We all have good and bad memories from school. But the most memorable ones are sometimes as small as walking into school for the first time. You feel like someone older is going to shove you into a locker or shove your face in the toilet like in Everybody Hates Chris. Or when we had to run the mile for the first time. At the end I felt like throwing up and my legs felt like they were full of led. Finally, when we had our first game of the season and the ref blows the whistle and throws the ball in the air. All these memories though, helped make us who we are today.
In conclusion, I will miss this school a lot because so many amazing things have happened that no one will ever forget like all the funny moments at play practice or the crazy student vs faculty game and many more. But going to high school will give us an opportunity to express ourselves even more through clubs and sports. But even after high school and college, I will never forget my roots here at Golf Middle School.

Endings and Beginning

In 2012 when I was playing for junior Vikings, we were getting ready for our first playoff game. When we versed them before, we got killed 32-17. We were so mad after that game. But it motivated us to work harder. So after that game we changed our work ethic and went 7-2 the rest of our season. Once the playoffs rolled in we had longer and harder practices. When we found out that we were versing the Cardinals, we got fired up at practice and our intensity went up. At our final practice before we versed them, our coach gave us a speech. He talked about how proud he was of us and how we grew as team. On game day, we strapped up and went to their field. Once we got there, they already started taking trash to us, but it didn't faze us.We went through our normal pre- game warm ups and it was time to play. Every play of the game , the entire team gave it all they had. We kept the lead the entire game and ended up being victorious. It was so amazing and emotional. Their team was crying of sadness and our team was celebrating in victory. At the start of the season, we lost games and didn't communicate with each other. But at the end, we worked hard as a team through the ups and downs of the season but came through and defeated the Cardinals. It was a memorable season to me and it will always be remembered.

Camp McLean

Last year we went on a field trip to Camp McLean. It was a two hour trip there, but no one really minded the wait because we all new this trip was going to be amazing. Once we arrived there, we were instantly greeted by people who worked there. We went to our cabins and unpacked everything. After that we started our day doing fun things with each other like rock climbing, archery, fishing and capture the flag. After eating food, you would get some time to do whatever you want. I played basketball and football during that time. At night after eating dinner, we were put into teams for the final activity of the day which was capture the flag. They put face paint on our face based on which team you were on. The game went on for a good two hours before the game ended and my team losing. We went to our cabins after. We messed around the entire night and I don't think anyone went to sleep. At 6:30 in the morning, we went to the docks and went fishing. After that we finished the final activities that were panned out for us. The trip was done so fast in my opinion, but it was a trip to remember.

Diary Entry

October 12, 2012

Dear Diary,

After a short football practice, I found out tomorrow we are playing the Naperville Patriots for the first game of the playoffs. My coach tells all of us to get prepared mentally and physically for the big day. I ice both of my knees and do my regular stretches through out my entire body. I then watch tapes of them during the season, to see what kind of offense they play. I visualize the game in my head. I'm nervous for the game but also determined to win. Good night, I'll let you know the results tomorrow.

Erika's Quote

We must live, and when this is all over, we must work to make the world a better place.  And if we die, we will die knowing that it was not our fault, that we did our best, and we can go to our deaths in dignity… I want you both to live…And to remember...You must choose love.  Always choose love.”

My grandma from India is one the most loving-people I personally know. Even though I only get to see her every three years, she makes each visit exciting and adventurous. When you need help with anything, she is always there to help you the best way she can. She is a very loving person and makes you smile everyday either with a joke or a childhood story she remembers. Each day is blast with her and I always look forward to going to India when that time of year comes around.

Leap Year

Leap year to me has always been unusual. I never know when it comes and when it does come by, I don't think much of it like some people do. It just comes by like an ordinary day but to some people its special because it's their birthday.

But Leap year does connect to me family wise. My grandpa's birthday is on February 29th, which is leap year. For me its crazy to think about how his birthday comes every four years. But he doesn't mind, to him it makes his life more interesting. At 75, he sometimes forgets if this year is Leap year. He sometimes is right and sometimes he is wrong. Like this year, we called him to say happy birthday because he lives in India. But when we called him, he said " Wait....., IT"s MY BIRTHDAY. WOW". I started laughing and told him to enjoy his special day as much as possible.

Even though I only get to see my grandparents from India every 4 years, I always make sure to say happy birthday on the right year. Sometimes my dad messes with him saying the wrong year is his birthday. We end up feeling bad because he gets sad when he realizes it's not his birthday, but we send him a little extra gift to make him feel better.

Short story

One day, Ronald McDonald saw a lot people were going to Burger King instead of McDonald's. When he saw this, it really got him mad. Ronald stormed into Burger king and started screaming at all the cashiers, which made them start crying. Ronald then took all the customers food, and threw it against the wall. One of the employees called 222, which was the number for the Burger King. After 10 minutes, the Burger King stormed through the doors like a superhero and the customers started clapping and cheering. "Stop, you monster, you are creating trouble in the wrong place said the Burger King". Ronald stared at him with a straight face. Then a small smile came upon his face. He started laughing and picked up a whopper . Ronald threw the burger at the Burger King which made him die of laughter. The customers gasped in shock. The burger king charged towards Ronald like a mad hippo. Ronald wasn't startled, but instead slapped him , which made him fall. The burger man fell and quietly started crying. At the same time the MGPD came and arrested Ronald for assault and public disturbance. No one did ever see Ronald again, but their are stories of people seeing him at abandoned parking lots, dancing while having whoppers in his hands.
